Who We Are
The Ghanaian United Association (GUA), initially named The Ghanaian United Family, is a non-political, non-religious, and non-tribal association founded in 1989 in Schönwerd, Kanton Aargau, Switzerland. We are dedicated to fostering unity, cultural preservation, and community support among Ghanaians in Switzerland.
Our Mission
As a non-political, non-religious, and non-tribal association, our mission is to:
- Provide a space for people to meet, connect, and build friendship
- Promote social, economic, and educational activities for the welfare of our members
- Maintain and advance Ghanaian cultural heritage within Switzerland's multicultural fabric
- Assist community development in Ghana
- Be brothers and sisters keepers to one another

Our History
Founding Story
The Ghanaian United Association was founded in 1989 in Schönwerd, Kanton Aargau, Switzerland, during a weekend visit at the home of Mr. Charles and Mrs. Alima Kokodoko. Ten visionary individuals came together to form what was initially called "The Ghanaian United Family."

Key Milestones
1990: First Union Meeting
Held at Black Ceaser Club in Zurich, marking the official start of our community gatherings.
1990: Constitution Drafted
Written with the help of Mr. Kojo Fiagbedzi, then senior Prokurist of Bank Verein Switzerland.
Name Change
Dr. Hyde Antwi convinced the union to change from "Ghanaian United Family" to "Ghanaian United Association."
First President
Mr. Freeman Kudese served as our inaugural president, followed by many dedicated leaders.

Community Donations
GUA has made significant donations to support development in Ghana, including:

- Crime Check Organisation
- Children's Orphanage Homes in Accra

We organize 3-4 fun meetings annually, including:
- Barbecues for members and friends
- Excursions to places of interest
- Cultural celebrations and gatherings
These events foster friendship, connection, and joy throughout the year.
